I got my buckets! Yesterday, my partner came home with a gift from the local hardware store - two 5 gallon food-safe buckets for washing our garden harvests. As the season progresses, I find that the majority of the time I spend in the garden consists of harvesting and cleaning the food. Last year I tried washing everything once I got it into the house. This was a bit of a struggle to keep up with, but my new buckets make it a breeze!
If there is some extra stubborn soil, I might use the spray from the hose to knock it off before the transfer. I do some more swishing in the second bucket, then I pull the food out and lay it on paper towels I reuse the water as much as I can, but if it gets too dirty, I dump out the first bucket (I use it to water the garden) then switch the second bucket to first rinse duty and fill the empty bucket with clean water, and proceed.
